International Justice Mission

Another company that StarKnight is affiliated with is the International Justice Mission. As stated on their website: International Justice Mission is a human rights agency that secures justice for victims of slavery, sexual exploitation and other forms of violent oppression. IJM lawyers, investigators and aftercare professionals work with local governments to ensure victim rescue, to prosecute perpetrators and to strengthen the community and civic factors that promote functioning public justice systems.

I was not aware of them until I visited their website, and it was very informative. To learn more about them, visit them at http://www.ijm.org/

Durability

When you buy something, isn't one of the first things that comes to mind durability? I mean you wouldn't buy something thinking "Wow this is a great product, but I'm sure it's not gonna last past this month." Why would you even consider buying something if you knew it wasn't durable? Knowing that a product you buy will last , and is resilient is a worth-while investment. At StarKnight we're proud to say that our products are durable, and reliable.

Does Anyone Ever Read the User Manuals?

I was just curious, because at times I notice people don't utilize the user manual (I myself am guilty of this.) I'm guessing, that depending on the actual product denotes how much we "should" use the manual. If you were to buy a new lamp; you would probably just plug it in and turn it on. That's understandable, because there really shouldn't be anything too complicated with small things like that. I'm sure that when investing in something more technologically advanced, one would choose to read the manual. I do this to make sure that I don't break it, lol. But we should really take the time to look at the user manuals, because they can be very helpful. Plus they are made for this very reason!!!!! Hahaha. What I find cool is how some websites even post up the user manuals online for you. So even if you haven't purchased the product yet, you can take a look at the manual to see how it works. Plus it'll get you more familiar with the actual product. This is very helpful, especially for those who are on the fence about a product that they are interested in.

Peace of Mind

Isn't it great to know that things are gonna be just fine? Having that peace of mind that everyone talks about? I do, I especially like it when you have the comfort of knowing things are going the way they should when you're not around. Like when I used to work in retail, knowing that my other co-workers were doing their job when I wasn't there kept me from calling and checking to see if everything was okay. Knowing that everything is being attended to when it should be helps me breathe easier, and it keeps productivity going too!!!! Peace of mind, I'd like a piece of that.

Lifetime Warranties

Whenever I hear about lifetime warranties, I'm always quick to wonder "Really? That's cool!" I say this because a company must really have the utmost confidence in their product. It makes you wonder how durable and reliable the product must be, I mean they're backing it with a lifetime warranty!!! It's good to know that there are companies that believe in their products, and it's comforting to know that they will be there to help you every step of the way if you need it. It's a wonderful thought to know that a company sees a person more than just a client, but also sees them as people just like you and me :)

What's up with the weather?

It's like the weather can't make up it's mind!!!! A few weeks ago it was warm, and that's understandable because it was summer then. Then it started cooling off, then all of a sudden BAM we;re in the 90's again. I felt bad though, here in Long Beach it was foggy and cool this morning; and my friend wore a sweater. An hour later the sun jumped out from behind the clouds and was like "Surprise!!!!!! Didn't think you'd see me huh?" I just hope that the weather starts cooling off soon, but here in SoCal it can be blazing hot one day, then chilly the next day I know we live in a desert and all, but man, MAKE UP YOUR MIND WEATHER!!!!!!

Keeping it Simple

I like it when things are kept simple, especially when it comes to new technology. When a there is a product that I'm new to, knowing that it'll be an easy thing to learn is always satisfying. When I first started learning about what Security Guard Tour Systems were, I was surprised to see how simple and easy it all was. After the explanation was given I was like "Really, that's it?"
And sure enough that was it. Plus what made it cool was knowing how to use it it so simple that a child can do it. It's just as simple as pointing and clicking, just like you would do with a mouse!!!

Security and Technology

So the other day I was at a local shopping center, and I noticed something pretty cool. I know that security guards have been using Segways more and more, but there's a lot more I've been noticing lately. As technology advances it makes for better security. Especially with security guards on these modes of transportation, it makes for easier rounds. Now with the technology that security guard tour systems brings, it makes security tasks that much more easy. With security guard tour systems you can easily mark in incidents wherever you may see them. This makes taking down notes a breeze, and you save paper too!

Security Cameras

So sometimes you notice security cameras on certain buildings. Sometimes theses cameras are distributed through out many parts of the building, or sometimes they're just in one area. Security Cameras are great, but sometimes they may not be able to see everything that goes on. True, they might be able to rotate....But it still may not see everything. Then I started thinking about how security guard tour systems are in ways like security cameras, and in some cases more effective. With security cameras the guards will be sitting in a room that may be far from the actual area that may need the proper assistance. With the guard tour systems the guard will be actively patrolling the area. They'll be able to see something that the camera may miss, and that can be crucial. Say for example there's a building with a camera that's monitoring a section of a building. If this camera turns in different directions it may miss something crucial, and lose it in its blindspot. If there was a guard checking in at his post with the security guard tour system, he would be there and be able to see everything. Now Security cameras aren't a bad thing, but there's always room for improvement. Check out security guard tour systems for yourself at http://www.knightsolution.com/

Why does it seem to be that security guards don't really want to do what they're supposed to?

It seems that whenever I go to malls, shopping centers, or private buildings the security guards don't really care to be there. I'm not saying that all security guards are like this, but a large number that I've seen have acted this way. Sometimes when I see them walking around they're just lugging around, and twiddling their thumbs. One time I was working in a shopping center, and one of the security guards came into our store to talk to us. She wanted to notify us that she was part of the new guards that were transferred in. This was a very nice, and professional act. One thing was a little off though, when she was talking to us she was VERY unenthusiastic. Later that week we saw her just moping around. Sitting on the benches, texting on her phone, and staring out into the distance. Things like that make it seem like they REALLY don't want to be there. I know that not every guard is going to be the most jubilant person in the area, but it would be nice if they were more active in patrolling the area.

Security guard tour systems would be a great way for them to become more involved in the area, and not just sitting at their post texting friends.

Giving back

The world we live in can be a scary place, and it can be hard not knowing what tomorrow holds.
All my life I've felt that I should give back, and that it should be something that you as an individual must want. To give back doesn't mean being recognized, receiving kudos, or even gaining popularity. To give back means to help those who are less fortunate, and do it because YOU want to. Whenever there were times that I could give back I would do it in a heart beat. Even the little things like when you go to the grocery store, and you see the people ringing the bell asking for donations....I give them whatever change I can give them. I know it's not much, but to be able to help someone else is a passion of mine. I'm even involved in a Fraternity at school that is serviced based. I had no idea that such a fraternity existed, I thought all fraternities were just social. It was one of the best decisions I've made in my college career. I love knowing that I helped make a difference in someone else's life. I mean I'm only one person, but to know that I helped someone smile makes all the difference for me. From doing services like painting homes for the less fortunate, helping organizations like the American Cancer Society, and helping feed the less fortunate at a rescue mission are things that I do not to be recognized; but because I want to help make this world a better place one smile at a time.
It also makes me proud to know that the company I'm interning for is affiliated with such groups that help fight to make this world a better place. To learn more about some of the organizations that StarKnightInc is involved with, please visithttp://www.knightsolution.com/starknight_charities.php to find out more about them. You can make a world of difference in someone else's life.

I entrusted these guards with my security?

A few years ago I used to work in a strip mall, and it was a nice one too. There was a supermarket, and little eateries. It wasn't too big, but it was a decent sized one. My only concern was the security guards that were patrolling the strip, they weren't really doing much. There were times when I would go on break, and all I would see them doing was.....sitting there. They would sit and lounge inside their golf cart, and talk amongst themselves. I rarely saw them leave the spot they chose to sit at for the day. Another thing that really irked me was that, sometimes they would come into the store I worked at; and they would stay there for quite a long time. I would often say to my co-workers, "Shouldn't they be out there making sure that everything is okay?" And every response was a concerned "YEAH! They should be!" One time my co-worker went outside for his break, and he told me something that made me very upset. "Guess where I saw the security guard?" "Where?" I asked. "He parked his golf cart in the corner and was sleeping!" SLEEPING? REALLY? This is someone that we entrusted with our safety, and he was sleeping on the job. As time went by the other patrons of the strip mall began to notice. They began complaining, and one day the security guard's boss decided to pay them a visit. Sure enough their boss caught them sleeping on the job! They were dismissed immediately. I'm glad that they were caught, but it was unfortunate that it took so long for their boss to realize how inefficient the guards were. My co-workers and I kept wondering if there was a way for security managers to make sure that their guards were doing what they were supposed to do. Now I know there is a surefire was to ensure quality security, and all without them having to be there.
